GWADAR: Five labourers from Sindh were injured late Tuesday night when unknown assailants threw a grenade at a house in Pasni, a coastal town in Balochistan, police reported.
The attack occurred in Ward No. 9, where perpetrators on motorbikes hurled the grenade into the courtyard of a residential quarter. The explosion damaged part of the house and injured five residents, who were immediately taken to the district hospital.
“The condition of one of the injured is serious, while the others are stable despite multiple injuries,” said a local police official. The victims hail from Larkana and Qambar Shahdadkot and were residing in Gwadar for work as labourers.
Police have launched an investigation, but no group has claimed responsibility.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have seen an increase in militant activity over the past year, though attacks had declined following the launch of “Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1” by security forces in early February, according to think tank data.
Recent incidents include:
- March 3: A hand grenade attack on a government office in Dhadar, Bolan district.
- January 7: Parliamentary secretary Barkat Rind and other officials survived a grenade attack in Turbat; a separate attack in Hub district injured a Pakistan Coast Guards’ personnel at a highway checkpoint.
- Earlier January: A grenade attack near Chenak Chowk in Sibi district killed one person and injured five.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as investigations into these attacks proceed.
