Schools across Balochistan will reopen on April 1 (Wednesday), with classes scheduled five days a week, the provincial government announced on Tuesday.
Earlier, on March 9, the government had ordered a closure of all educational institutions—schools, colleges, and universities—from March 10 to March 31 due to the global fuel crisis sparked by the US-Israel war on Iran.
A notification shared on the provincial government’s X account stated: “All schools (public and private) in Balochistan shall re-open with effect from April 1 (Wednesday).”
It added that, considering the ongoing fuel shortage, all schools, provincial and divisional directorates, and district offices of the School Education Department will follow a five-day workweek (Monday to Friday). Saturdays and Sundays will remain holidays.
The notification also emphasized that all examinations and assessments will proceed according to the scheduled dates, and authorities have been directed to ensure strict compliance.
The day before, the Punjab government announced a similar plan, with schools resuming on April 1 and operating on a five-day week.
