Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum today, marking the third stop of his ongoing three-nation tour, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
In a post on X, the PMO said the premier will take part in a leaders’ panel titled “Mapping Tomorrow, Managing Uncertainties” at the forum in Antalya. During the session, he is expected to outline Pakistan’s perspective and engage with other global leaders attending the event. He will also be present at the forum’s opening ceremony.
Sharif arrived in Turkiye on Thursday after a brief visit to Qatar, where he discussed regional developments with the country’s leadership. His meeting with President Erdogan is expected to focus on recent diplomatic efforts, including Pakistan’s role in easing tensions in the Middle East and facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran.
The prime minister began his tour on Wednesday in Saudi Arabia, where he met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah. He then travelled to Doha for talks with Qatar’s leadership, which included discussions on US-Iran negotiations reportedly facilitated by Islamabad.
Earlier, the Foreign Office said the visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar were part of ongoing bilateral engagement, aimed at strengthening cooperation while also addressing regional peace and security concerns.
The tour comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions in the Gulf, where several countries have faced Iranian attacks targeting US and Israeli-linked sites. Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic efforts to mediate between Washington and Tehran, contributing to a temporary ceasefire and initial round of talks held in Islamabad.
