PAF Showcases Cutting-Edge Aerospace Technology at Saudi Defence Expo, Cementing Pakistan’s Status as Innovation Hub: ISPR

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is taking center stage at the ongoing World Defence Show 2026 (WDS-26) in Saudi Arabia, highlighting Pakistan’s growing role as a hub for aerospace innovation, operational expertise, and dependable defence solutions, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.

“World Defence Show 2026 serves as a premier global platform for defence and security,” the ISPR statement read. “PAF’s participation reinforces Pakistan’s position as an emerging center for aerospace innovation, operational excellence, and reliable defence capabilities.”

The ISPR emphasized that the PAF’s involvement underscores Pakistan’s rapidly advancing indigenous aerospace technologies and proven operational proficiency. Among the highlights are the state-of-the-art JF-17 Thunder Block-III multi-role fighter jet and the acclaimed Super Mushshak basic trainer aircraft.

The statement detailed that the JF-17 Block-III, representing the pinnacle of Pakistan’s combat aviation technology, features cutting-edge avionics, an advanced AESA radar, enhanced electronic warfare systems, and beyond-visual-range combat capabilities, making it a formidable 4.5-generation fighter jet capable of meeting modern air force requirements.

Meanwhile, the Super Mushshak trainer aircraft showcases Pakistan’s strength in pilot training solutions. Known for its reliability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of maintenance, it has been inducted by several friendly nations and continues to set the global standard for basic flight training.

PAF’s participation at WDS-26 also reflects its leadership’s vision of fostering international defence cooperation, promoting defence exports, and strengthening strategic partnerships. The exhibition offers a platform for global delegations, defence officials, and military industry leaders to engage with PAF representatives and explore collaboration, training, and technology transfer opportunities.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that several countries were in active talks with Pakistan to acquire the JF-17 fighter jets, which gained global attention following the India-Pakistan conflict in May 2025. Interested nations include Indonesia, Bangladesh, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, while Azerbaijan inducted the aircraft into its air force in 2024, becoming the third country to acquire the JF-17 after Myanmar and Nigeria.
