KSE-100 rebounds above 157,800 in early trade

KARACHI: Pakistan’s benchmark KSE-100 Index climbed more than 2,000 points in early trading on Thursday, recovering from losses in the previous session.

By 10:30am, the index had risen 1.3 per cent from its last close of 155,777.21 points to reach 157,800.32 points.

Market activity appeared relatively stable compared to earlier sessions this week, with the index holding on to its gains and witnessing only minor pullbacks.

Trading volumes remained strong, with around 88 million shares changing hands and a total traded value of approximately Rs5.94 billion.

Among the most actively traded stocks, Unity Foods Limited led the market, advancing 5.46pc to Rs10.05 with a volume of over 32.5 million shares. Trust Securities & Brokerage Limited (R) followed, declining 13.64pc to Rs0.19 on a volume of nearly 14.8 million shares. Meanwhile, Worldcall Telecom Limited remained unchanged at Rs1.23 with more than 11.2 million shares traded.

The rebound comes after the KSE-100 closed over 1,300 points lower on Wednesday despite an initially positive start. Analysts noted that the local market mirrored the negative trend seen in global equities, reflecting a broader risk-off sentiment.

Investors remain cautious as rising geopolitical tensions continue to weigh on market confidence and risk appetite.
