Pakistan’s benchmark KSE-100 index fell sharply in early trading on Tuesday, losing 1,587.06 points by 11:10am to reach 172,866.87, down 0.91% from Monday’s close of 174,453.93 points.
Trading volumes stood at 112.6 million shares, valued at Rs7.25 billion. The decline comes after Monday’s volatile session, when the index dropped over 5,000 points (2.87%), driven by foreign outflows and rising political uncertainty, which analysts at Topline Securities say intensified bearish sentiment.
Among top active stocks, K-Electric Limited led losses, down 3.81% to Rs7.82 on a volume of 50.5 million shares. Worldcall Telecom Limited remained flat at Rs1.53 with 15.7 million shares traded, while The Bank of Punjab fell 3.91% to Rs31.95 on a volume of 10.5 million shares.
Leading gainers included Metropolitan Steel Corporation Limited, up 10.02% to Rs23.05, 786 Investments Limited, rising 10.01% to Rs19.67, and Javedan Corporation (Pref), up 10% to Rs127.68.
